Biography

Rafael Martin-Cuevas is a Senior Manager in BMO’s AI and Data team, where he leads strategic initiatives in quantum technologies. With a background in Software Engineering and a strong focus on emerging tech, Rafael is driving BMO’s advancement in quantum capabilities, reinforcing the bank's leadership in the field, and cultivating key partnerships across the global quantum ecosystem to better serve customers. Before joining BMO, Rafael was instrumental in establishing EY’s Global Quantum Lab, coordinating quantum efforts across 20 countries. His consulting work has spanned technology strategy, AI, data, cloud, and other frontier technologies, with engagements involving financial institutions and government agencies. Beyond industry, Rafael lectures in a master’s program on Quantum Computing Technology and has authored over ten publications in the field.
