- Biography
- Mark Mattingley-Scott is Chief Revenue Officer and General Manager EMEA at Quantum Brilliance, where he also serves as Geschäftsführer of the German GmbH. He brings over four decades of enterprise technology leadership to the task of commercialising room-temperature diamond quantum computing. Mark holds a B.Sc. in Applied Physics, Electronics and Computer Science from Durham University and a PhD on Code Division Multiple Access networks. After four years at Thorn EMI Research in semiconductor and electronics research, he joined IBM Germany in 1989 and spent 32 years across the organisation. He led the team that delivered IBM’s first end-to-end e-commerce platform (1996), built the first fully integrated telemedicine platform for paediatric dialysis (2006), and led IBM’s big data and analytics technical work in EMEA — co-authoring six industry publications through Bitkom and co-founding Germany’s Bitkom Big Data and AI Conference. In 2016 he was a founding member of IBM’s quantum evangelist programme, subsequently serving as EMEA and Asia-Pacific ambassador lead. A first-cohort appointee to the NATO Secretary General’s Advisory Group on Emerging and Disruptive Technologies (2020–2022), Mark is an IEEE Senior Member and co-founder of the IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics German chapter. He has held teaching positions at the universities of Frankfurt, Mannheim, Munich and Osnabrück, and chaired Bitkom’s Big Data and Analytics and HPC and Quantum Computing working groups.
