- Dr. Shane Mansfield is Chief Research Officer at Quandela, which he joined as a late co-founder during its evolution into a full-stack photonic quantum computing company. He received his PhD in quantum computer science from the University of Oxford and was subsequently appointed Junior Research Fellow at Wolfson College. His research career has included positions at Sorbonne University (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow), the University of Edinburgh, the Simons Institute at UC Berkeley, and the University of Paris as a laureate of the Paris Foundation for Mathematical Sciences. Since 2020, he has led Quandela’s theory, architecture, and algorithms efforts, advancing scalable fault-tolerant quantum computing through resource-efficient spin–photon and photonic architectures, and supporting the company’s first commercial quantum utility applications.
