Biography
Guido Pupillo is a Distinguished Professor of quantum physics at the University of Strasbourg, where he directs the European Center for Quantum Sciences (CESQ). His work sits at the forefront of atomic, molecular, and optical physics, with a focus on quantum computing and quantum simulation. After earning his PhD in 2005 from the University of Maryland for research carried out at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in the US, he held postdoctoral and senior scientist positions at the University of Innsbruck in Austria. He plays a key role in shaping Europe’s quantum research and education landscape, coordinating major initiatives such as the Horizon Europe Quantum Flagship project “EuRyQa – European Infrastructure for Rydberg Quantum Computing” and multiple MSCA-funded education programs. He also co-coordinates the French national effort to develop neutral-atom quantum computers, “aQCess – Atomic Quantum Computing as a Service.” His work has been recognized with several distinctions, including an ERC Grant and two senior chairs from the Institut Universitaire de France. Alongside his academic activities, he is co-founder of the quantum computing startup QPerfect.
