Biography

Alessia Bizzarri leads strategic oversight of emerging technologies at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT). Her responsibilities encompass policy coordination, cross-service and international engagement, and the alignment of emerging technology initiatives with Europe’s competitiveness, security and strategic autonomy objectives, with particular attention to the post-quantum cryptography (PQC) transition and the dual-use dimension of emerging technologies. A physicist by training, with a Master’s degree in Audit and Finance, she brings a multidisciplinary perspective shaped by her experience across European institutions and the financial sector, including the European Central Bank (ECB) and Banca d’Italia. Her expertise bridges technology, financial governance and European strategic policymaking.
